Launching an arts podcast seemed like a pretty easy decision, even for a rookie. There were minimal set up costs and I was raging about the sector’s blindspot on representation. There was no one in the media regularly talking about barriers to entry for Black artists, or platforming their work.

I was niche! Shade would be the first in audio etc etc, which did blow the wind into my sails, but perhaps I could have been more practical about, the practicals. Like how much time podcasting takes and actually costs. Anyway, for gods sake I thought, it’s just chatting into a mic (reader, I didn’t have a mic, but why let that stop us).
